What Does the iPhone 18 Look Like?

The confirmed iPhone 18 Pro design has a broad raised camera area across the upper back, three large rear camera lenses, a flat-sided aluminum body, and an all-screen front with a pill-shaped Dynamic Island. The Pro and Pro Max come in Black, Silver, Glacier, and Burgundy. The standard iPhone 18 has not been announced as of October 21, 2026, so its final appearance is not confirmed.

If you have seen several different “iPhone 18” pictures, first check which model they claim to show. Official Pro photographs, an unannounced standard-model concept, and a folding-phone rumor are not interchangeable evidence.

The confirmed Pro design, front and back

Apple’s official iPhone 18 Pro photographs and design overview show the current Pro family. From the front, the main identifying features are the rounded screen corners, narrow surrounding borders, and the black Dynamic Island near the top. Apple describes that island as smaller than on the previous Pro generation.

On the back, the camera area is a raised horizontal plateau rather than three small lenses sitting flush with the rear panel. The three large camera lenses form a triangular arrangement within that area. The flash and additional sensor openings are separate from those three lenses.

The larger camera platform matters when judging a side view or choosing a case. A front-only image can hide the depth and layout that determine how a case or camera protector fits. Check the complete product name, button openings, and camera cutout rather than assuming that two similar-looking generations use identical accessories.

The illustrations in this article are editorial schematics based on Apple’s published design references, not product photographs. Use Apple’s official images or a display unit when you need to inspect the actual finish.

What the four colors look like

Apple lists the same four finishes for both Pro sizes in its technical specifications.

FinishUseful visual description
BlackThe dark neutral option
SilverThe light neutral option
GlacierA pale, cool blue appearance
BurgundyA deep red appearance rather than a bright primary red

These descriptions help distinguish the options; they are not calibrated color samples. Studio lighting, a shop’s lighting, the screen displaying a photograph, and a clear or tinted case can all affect the impression you get.

In one Reddit discussion about choosing a finish, the original poster described Burgundy and Glacier looking different in a store from what they had expected. Replies compared sunlight, indoor appearance, and case choices. That is a useful reason to inspect a finish in the conditions you care about, not evidence that one color has better durability.

If color matters to you, compare the actual finishes under similar light and, where possible, with the case you intend to use. A color name or an AI illustration cannot settle a subtle shade preference.

How the Pro and Pro Max sizes differ

The two models share the same general design language, but the Max occupies more space in your hand and pocket. Apple’s specification sheet gives the following dimensions:

MeasurementiPhone 18 ProiPhone 18 Pro Max
Advertised display diagonal6.3 inches6.9 inches
Body height150.0 mm163.4 mm
Body width71.9 mm78.0 mm
Body depth8.75 mm8.75 mm

Display diagonal is not the same measurement as the outside of the phone. For fit, look at body dimensions and allow for the case; for the viewing experience, compare the display. A picture that scales both phones to the same height can conceal this difference.

Two front silhouettes compare the 6.3-inch Pro and 6.9-inch Pro Max
Display diagonals describe the screen; compare body dimensions separately when checking fit.

What about the standard iPhone 18 and folding pictures?

The standard model’s appearance remains unconfirmed. Do not transfer the Pro’s colors, camera layout, dimensions, or materials to a product called simply iPhone 18 unless Apple announces those details for that model.

Apple’s folding phone has a separate name, iPhone Duo. A folding illustration labeled “iPhone 18 Fold” may be an old rumor or an unofficial concept, not the final name of a standard iPhone 18. Our model-by-model iPhone 18 release explanation separates the announced Pro models from the unannounced standard version.

When checking a striking design image, look for its source, publication date, and caption. “Render,” “concept,” and “dummy unit” describe different kinds of material from a manufacturer photograph. A convincing surface texture does not make an image official.

Conclusion

For a reliable picture today, use the confirmed Pro design and identify the exact size and finish. For the standard iPhone 18, keep the design unresolved until there is a model-specific announcement. That distinction is especially useful before choosing an accessory or placing an order based on a picture alone.
