Editorial Guidelines

Home & Living Daily publishes practical, research-led information about home design, improvement planning, cleaning and organization, smart-home products, and garden and outdoor living. This page explains how topics are selected, how information is researched, how different types of content are presented, and how corrections and commercial relationships are handled.

Home & Living Daily is independently operated. The publisher is responsible for the final selection, review, and publication of its content.

Our Editorial Purpose

Our goal is to help readers understand their options before making decisions about their homes. Articles are intended to explain practical considerations such as cost, space, maintenance, installation, daily use, and possible limitations. We aim to make complex home-related topics easier to compare without suggesting that one design, product, or budget is right for every household.

How Topics Are Chosen

Topics are selected according to reader usefulness and relevance to the site’s subject areas. Search data, common homeowner questions, seasonal needs, product developments, design discussions, and gaps in existing coverage may help identify a topic. Search demand can inform what we cover, but it does not replace the need to provide a clear and useful answer.

Research and Sources

Home & Living Daily uses a research-led process. Depending on the topic, research may include manufacturer documentation, government and municipal resources, trade and industry organizations, recognized standards, professional publications, market information, and other relevant sources. Primary and official sources are preferred when they are available and appropriate.

Sources are evaluated for relevance, authority, date, geographic scope, and whether they directly support the statement being made. Important facts, figures, rules, and safety information should be linked or otherwise attributed where practical. A source is not treated as reliable merely because many other websites repeat the same claim.

How Different Types of Content Are Handled

Design and Inspiration

Design and trend articles combine research with editorial interpretation. They explain why an idea may be useful, where it may be difficult to apply, and which homes or routines it may suit. Style preferences are presented as choices rather than universal rules. When an article discusses a trend, the publication year or relevant time period should be clear.

Home Improvement and Cost Guides

Cost guides provide planning estimates rather than contractor quotes or guarantees. They should identify the country or market, currency, and time period used. When possible, they also explain what the estimate includes, what may be excluded, and which factors can change the final price, such as labor, materials, demolition, waterproofing, permits, repairs, access, and regional rates. Readers should obtain current local quotes before committing to a project.

Laws, Rules, and Local Conditions

Articles involving laws, permits, planting restrictions, invasive species, or other location-dependent rules should state the geographic limits of the information. Official government or regulatory sources are prioritized. Because local rules and conditions can change, readers are encouraged to confirm current requirements with the relevant local authority before acting.

Products, Comparisons, and Buying Guides

Product coverage may be based on published specifications, manuals, manufacturer information, retailer information, independent reporting, customer feedback patterns, and other available evidence. Research-based comparisons are identified through their language and should not be presented as hands-on testing.

Home & Living Daily will only describe a product as tested, used, or reviewed from firsthand experience when that experience actually occurred. When hands-on testing is performed, the article should explain what was tested, the conditions of the test, the main observations, and relevant limitations. Products are assessed according to factors that matter for the topic, such as function, suitability, maintenance, ease of use, cost, and trade-offs.

Editorial Review Before Publication

Before publication, the publisher reviews each article for a clear answer to the reader’s question, logical organization, factual support, appropriate source use, and consistency between the title and the article’s actual scope. Numerical claims and calculations are checked when they are central to the advice. The review also looks for unsupported claims, exaggerated certainty, duplicate passages, broken links, misleading image captions, and internal drafting notes that should not appear on the public page.

Home-related decisions can involve electrical work, plumbing, structural changes, tools, chemicals, fire risks, or local code requirements. Articles may explain general considerations, but they do not replace an inspection, diagnosis, quotation, or advice from a qualified professional who can evaluate the reader’s specific property.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence tools may assist with topic development, search-intent analysis, outlines, drafting, editing, organization, and some illustrations. AI output is not treated as a factual source. Material prepared with AI assistance must still be reviewed by the publisher for relevance, accuracy, clarity, unsupported claims, and consistency with the sources used. The publisher remains responsible for the content published on the site.

Images and Illustrations

Images may include licensed photographs, properly permitted third-party material, screenshots used for explanation, diagrams, and AI-generated illustrations. Image sources and usage rights should be recorded where applicable. AI-generated or illustrative images are not presented as proof of a completed renovation, a real home, or a product test. When an image could reasonably be mistaken for documentary evidence, the caption or nearby text should clarify its illustrative nature.

Independence and Commercial Relationships

Editorial conclusions are based on the usefulness of the information for readers. If an article contains affiliate links, sponsored content, free products, paid placement, or another material commercial relationship, that relationship will be disclosed clearly on the relevant page. A commercial relationship does not permit an advertiser or seller to purchase a favorable conclusion.

Updates and Corrections

Articles may be reviewed and updated when prices, product details, rules, sources, or other material information changes. A publication or modified date should reflect the actual editorial history of the page and should not be changed solely to make old content appear new.

If we find a material error, we aim to correct it promptly. When a correction substantially changes a conclusion or important factual statement, an explanatory note may be added to the article. Minor spelling, grammar, formatting, and link repairs may be made without a correction note.
